I guess you can call me Dori...

So I am REALLY bad at this whole blogging thing. It has been FOREVER since I posted and a lot has happened...

Well lets see...
  • March wasn't very exciting, just school & work at the exciting place called Chick-fil-A
  • April was a pretty long month...
We waited for Alex's acceptance into the police academy and then we FINALLY received it. Well we got everything in line for him to start on the 25th. So the morning of April 25th we got up really early for him to leave to go to Covington for the beginning of the long journey that would lead him to start his career. I went off to school and had a very long day waiting to hear from him. When I finally did he was telling me how much his shoulder was hurting (if you know Alex at all you know he DOES NOT COMPLAIN) so we tried to go to bed since he had to go to school early. Well about midnight he woke me up because of the pain. We ended up spending all night in the ER and he had a sprained shoulder so he was no longer able to continue the academy. We did some praying and we realize that it was ok, God knew what he was doing even if we didn't. Although that wasn't all of April I feel like that is what I remember.

  • April showers bring May flowers!
In May I ended my first year of the education cohort which was VERY exciting and I started working at the church with my mom (which is AWESOME!) for the summer. Also in May, Alex & I celebrated our First wedding anniversary. We celebrated by staying downtown at the Westin (the round one with the sundial). We stayed in a room on the 41st floor (The view was awesome!!!) and then we went to the Braves game. We also had our first experience with MARTA, interesting is all I can say.... On our actual anniversary we celebrated with two of our friends who we will now share our wedding anniversary with (Chris & Cmeyla!).

  • Bring on the heat of June...
In June I continued to work two jobs(so much fun!). We did the chance to go on Vacation with my family including 2 of my sisters and my parents. It was fun we went to the westgate River Ranch in Florida (Sorry no beach though ...) we had a lot of fun spending time with family and the pool. Later that month we celebrated my birthday, Alex cooked me dinner when I was off work and made me breakfast before I went to work on my actual birthday....

Other happenings....
My grandfather finished his first round of chemo and had a PET scan 2 weeks ago and there has been a 30% schrinkage in the cancer!!! It is so awesome and it has really been an encouragement to him! Also we have been waiting patiently (Kind of...) for Alex to get a job, well today he had an interview with the Fayette County Sheriff's office and by the end of the interview he had a JOB!!!! praise the Lord.
I guess that brings up to date on everything really.  One last thing... I got an email that had the prayer request that goes with your birthday and I felt that it was meant for me to find the one that went with my birthday, I just wish I had found it in April....

Slacker, I know...

So I have been slacking a bit on updating. It has been a long couple of weeks and a rough beginning of the week. These past couple of weeks at school have been pretty crazy with lots of tests and projects. So far I have done very well in mu classes. Things are also moving along for Alex. For those of you who do not know, Alex is trying to get into the police academy at DeKalb Tech. Last week he went and had to take an entrance exam, he did great :) Yesterday he went to an interview and now we are working on getting everything else finished. If everything works out he will start the academy the end of April and graduate in August, and we will be on our way to a real job :)

Monday we found out that my grandfather has stage 3 lung cancer and is in ICU right now. It is hard to grasp knowing that he is sick and that their is nothing I can do except pray...

Kind of a new years resolution...

So I had been told that the cool thing for a young married couple to do is create a blog. After thinking about it I  finally gave in. I had decided it would be sort of a New Years resolution. I came to some decisions and then on January 1st our internet was down so I decided to wait until February 1st and it would be a slightly delayed New Years Resolution. So now that you know why I guess I will tell you a little about Alex & I.

  • Alex & I meet in seventh grade.
  • Alex & I started dating our Senior Year of High School, March 4, 2007
  • Alex & I got engaged on December 21st, 2008
  • Alex & I got married on May 29th, 2010
Those are the basics... I guess I will just use this as an update on our young married life.
